Modular ice cubers are ice-making heads that sit on top of a separate ice bin or dispenser, giving busy operations high production with flexible storage. Babak Food Equipment offers modular ice machines from Atosa and Osion for restaurants, bars, hotels, banquet kitchens, grocers and institutions across Vancouver and British Columbia. Because the head and bin are chosen separately, you can match output to demand today and add storage or capacity as the business grows.
Types of modular ice cubers
Air-cooled modular cubers
The most common style. A fan cools the condenser, so the room needs good airflow and a moderate ambient temperature.
Water-cooled and remote-condenser models
Water-cooled units work well in hot rooms, while remote condensers move heat and noise to a roof or outside wall.
Cube sizes and widths
Heads typically come in widths of about 22″, 30″ and 48″ and produce full or half cube ice for drinks and general use.
How to choose a modular ice cuber

Production: compare the rated pounds per 24 hours with your daily use; modular heads typically range from about 300 to more than 1,000 lb per day.
Storage: pair the head with an ice bin that covers your busiest service.
Condenser type: choose air-cooled, water-cooled or remote based on room temperature, noise and ventilation.
Power and utilities: larger heads often need 208–230 V; plan the water line, drain and a water filter.
Clearance: measure ceiling height for the stacked head and bin and leave space for service access.

Frequently asked questions
What is a modular ice machine?
It is an ice maker head with no built-in storage. It sits on a separate ice bin, dispenser or beverage dispenser, which lets you choose production and storage independently.
Should I choose air-cooled or water-cooled?
Air-cooled is the most common and uses less water. Water-cooled can make sense in very hot rooms, while a remote condenser keeps heat and noise out of the kitchen.
Do modular ice machines need a bin?
Yes. A modular head must be installed on a compatible bin or dispenser – it cannot store ice on its own.
