A bar sink keeps glassware, bar tools and the bartender’s station clean through every service. Babak Food Equipment offers commercial stainless steel underbar sinks with one, two, three or four compartments, drainboards and faucet options for bars, pubs, lounges, restaurants, hotels, breweries and event venues across Vancouver and British Columbia – including Thorinox models built for the bar and sized to fit standard underbar runs.
Types of commercial bar sinks
Underbar compartment sinks
Multi-compartment underbar sinks are the standard for washing glassware by hand – wash, rinse and sanitize in separate bowls – and fit beneath the bar top at underbar height. Three and four compartment models are the most common in licensed bars.
Bar sinks with drainboards
Drainboards on one or both sides give glasses a place to drain and air-dry next to the sink. They keep the bar top dry and help staff work in a clear left-to-right flow.
Small bar sinks and dump sinks
Compact single-bowl bar sinks work as dump sinks for melted ice and drink waste, or as a prep sink at a smaller bar, coffee station or wet bar in a hotel suite or event space.
Bar hand sinks
Most health authorities require a dedicated hand sink behind the bar, separate from the glass-washing sink. See our hand sinks for compact models that fit underbar runs.
How to choose a commercial bar sink

Compartments: count the compartments your health authority requires for manual glass washing – usually three – and add a dump sink if your layout needs one.
Size and layout: measure the length of the underbar run, the depth under the bar top and the height. Underbar equipment is typically about 30–33 inches (76–84 cm) high.
Bowl size: bar sink bowls are smaller and shallower than pot sinks; make sure your tallest glasses and shakers fit.
Faucet: choose a splash-mounted faucet with a swing spout that reaches every bowl. Check whether the faucet is included.
Drainboards and accessories: drainboards, speed rails and splash guards add function; plan space for glass racks to dry.
Material: stainless steel resists corrosion from ice, citrus and cleaning chemicals, and it is easy to sanitize.

Frequently asked questions
What is the purpose of a bar sink?
A commercial bar sink is used to wash, rinse and sanitize glassware and bar tools, and to dump ice and drink waste, right where drinks are made.
What is the standard size of a bar sink?
There is no single standard, but commercial bar sink bowls are commonly about 10 × 14 inches and about 10 inches deep. Overall length depends on the number of compartments and drainboards.
What is a bar sink called?
It may be called an underbar sink, bar compartment sink, glass-washing sink or, for a single bowl, a dump sink or wet bar sink.
What is the best material for a bar sink?
Stainless steel is the standard for commercial bars. It handles ice, citrus acids and sanitizers, is durable and is easy to keep clean.
Do I need a separate hand sink at the bar?
In most cases, yes. Health rules generally require a dedicated hand sink at the bar, separate from the sinks used for glassware.
