A commercial electric griddle delivers even, controllable heat across the whole plate without a gas line, making it a strong choice for kitchens with no gas service, food courts, cafés and quick-service counters. Babak Food Equipment offers heavy-duty electric griddles for restaurants, cafés, hotels, schools and institutions across Vancouver and British Columbia, with a wide range from Wolf and Vulcan, plus ikon and Eurodib. They are part of our commercial griddles range.
Types of commercial electric griddles
Countertop electric griddles
Countertop units come in widths from about 24 to 72 in and sit on a stand or chef base. Heavy-duty models use thick steel plates and multiple thermostats for separate heat zones.
Light-duty and compact griddles
Smaller, plug-in griddles suit cafés, concession stands and breakfast buffets that cook lower volumes.
Chrome and steel plates
Polished steel plates are durable and traditional. Chrome-finished plates radiate less heat into the kitchen and release food easily, though they need gentler tools.
How to choose a commercial electric griddle

Power supply: most heavy-duty electric griddles need 208 or 240 V, single- or three-phase. Confirm what your building provides before choosing a model.
Width and zones: size the plate to your peak orders and look for one thermostat per 12 in or so for zone cooking.
Plate thickness: about 1/2 to 1 in plates hold heat when loaded with cold product.
Temperature control: thermostatic controls hold a set temperature, typically up to about 550°F (288°C).
Ventilation: electric griddles still produce grease vapour; most jurisdictions require a hood – check with your local authority.
Cleaning: a front grease trough and removable drawer speed up end-of-day cleaning.

Electric vs. gas griddles
Electric griddles heat very evenly, are easy to control and do not need a gas line, but they need the right electrical service. Manual gas griddles and thermostatic gas griddles heat up and recover quickly and are common where natural gas is already available.

The best choice is a heavy-duty model sized to your menu, with thick steel plates and multiple thermostats. Wolf and Vulcan are well-known commercial brands.
What is the biggest commercial electric griddle?
Heavy-duty countertop electric griddles typically go up to about 72 in wide, often with a separate thermostat for each section.
Do electric griddles need a three-phase supply?
