A sandwich prep refrigerator combines a refrigerated pan rail, a cutting board and cold storage below, so your team can build sandwiches and salads quickly in one spot. Babak Food Equipment offers sandwich and salad prep tables for delis, cafés, sub shops, restaurants, schools and hotel kitchens across Vancouver and British Columbia, with a large range from Turbo Air plus Atosa, Centerline and Cold Zone.
Types of sandwich prep refrigerators
Standard-top sandwich prep tables
A single row of 1/6 or 1/9 pans sits above a cutting board, with refrigerated cabinets below. It is the most common choice for sandwich and salad stations.
Mega-top prep tables
Two or three rows of pans give extra topping capacity in the same footprint. See our mega top refrigerators for larger menus.
Door and drawer bases
Most models have solid doors underneath; some offer drawers that hold pans at hand height and reduce bending during service.
Sizes
Sandwich prep tables typically come in widths from about 27 to 72 inches, with one, two or three doors.
How to choose a sandwich prep refrigerator
Width and pan count: count the ingredients on your menu and measure the line. A 48-inch unit is a common starting point for a small café.
Cutting board depth: a deeper board gives more room to assemble, but takes more counter depth.
Temperature and lid: pans should stay at or below about 40°F (4°C). An insulated lid helps hold temperature between rushes.
Base storage: decide between doors and drawers, and check how many full-size pans or shelves fit below.
Power and airflow: most models plug into a standard 115 V outlet. Front-breathing units can sit closer to walls.
Cleaning: removable pans, cutting boards and gaskets make daily cleaning faster.

Frequently asked questions
What is a sandwich prep refrigerator?
It is a refrigerated table with a pan rail on top, a cutting board in front and refrigerated storage below, built for fast sandwich and salad assembly.
What size sandwich prep table do I need?
Count your ingredients and measure your line. Many cafés start with a 48-inch unit; busy delis often choose 60 or 72 inches or a mega-top model.
What is the difference between a sandwich prep table and a pizza prep table?
Sandwich prep tables have a shallower cutting board and smaller pans. Pizza prep tables have a deeper board for dough and a refrigerated rail for larger pans.
Can I keep the pans filled overnight?
Many operators move pans to the base or a reach-in overnight. If you leave them in the rail, close the lid and follow your local food-safety rules.
